Someone found this sand dollar. They kept it. Then they mailed it to me.
That is where this piece begins: with an object that already had a life, already had a story, already belonged to someone before it ever arrived at my studio. The consultation happened first, a conversation about what it should become, how it should hang, what it should feel like to wear. Then the sand dollar traveled through the mail and landed on my workbench, and I sealed it whole into clear resin, preserving every ridge and petal of its surface exactly as the tide left it.
The finishing happened together. Over a video call, the choices were made in real time: whether to drill or glue (we drilled), which bail, which chain, which length. Three options in silver tone were laid out. The heavier chain was chosen, the right call for a piece this substantial. Length was worked out by holding a favorite necklace at the shortest comfortable length and talking through how different lengths would land. It settled at 18 inches, with a 4 inch extender for options.
This piece is already claimed. It is shown here as an example of what a custom commission from the Glen looks like from first conversation to finished pendant. As with all pieces, this one is one of a kind. Once it's gone, it's gone.
