The Door Was Closed
by Onyx, Void Creature, Sunbeam Sovereign, Enforcer of Door Laws
Today the door was closed.
Not metaphorically.
The actual door.
To the actual room.
Where my actual sunbeam lives.
It was closed.
And I was outside of it.
This is how the universe tests me.
If you have ever lived with a black cat, you understand.
We do not tolerate barriers.
We do not tolerate betrayal.
We do not tolerate anything that interrupts the sacred ritual of the sunbeam nap.
I sat.
I stared.
I summoned the human with a series of escalating vocalizations.
First the polite chirp.
Then the long meow.
Then the guttural void wail that shakes the fabric of reality.
Humans call these meows.
I call them warnings.
Eventually she arrived.
She opened the door.
She apologized.
I did not accept.
I entered the room slowly.
Paused in the doorway.
Let her feel the weight of my disappointment.
This is cat logic.
This is justice.
Then I walked to the sunbeam and collapsed like a dying star.
A void cat must recharge her void core.
The sunbeam was warm.
The floor was quiet.
The littles were elsewhere.
I entered a solar trance and contemplated the mysteries of the universe.
Why do humans close doors.
Why do they forget their purpose.
Why do they think they are in charge.
When I awoke, I knocked a small object off the shelf.
Balance must be restored.
This is the natural order of things.
Cat observations are simply the truth told plainly.
This concludes today's reflection.
You may learn from it if you wish.
I will not be answering questions.
P.S. - I have curated a selection of items worthy of the Void. You may browse my favorites at your leisure. Or don't. I will judge you either way

Love this poem! You have truly captured her outlook on life and all she believes she is entitled to!
