There's a theory that shells are portals. Not a popular one, but not easily dismissed either, especially when you're holding this pendant and the starburst inside it catches the light at exactly the right angle and you feel briefly like you've looked through something rather than at it.
A small starburst charm sits inside dark resin, and that resin is set inside a real shell, and that shell floats inside an open silver-tone teardrop bezel, held but not enclosed, suspended the way a star sits in still water. Three layers of world, each one inside the last. At three-quarters of an inch, it's not a small piece so much as a precise one. It hangs on an 18" adjustable chain and sits at the collarbone like a question you forgot you were asking.
From my studio, part of the Seaside/Cosmic Glen series, where the tide and the stars share the same dark water. The first of its kind, with more to follow. As with all pieces, this one is one of a kind. Once it's gone, it's gone.
