This is what the forest looks like from below.
A round pendant, coin-shaped and irregular at the edges the way found things are, with a background that reads like a cross-section of something old — dark wood grain, the kind of pattern a tree makes when it's been keeping time. Bright green moss fills the lower half. Two pale mushrooms stand in the middle of it, unhurried, and two small flowers hold their place nearby. Everything here has been here a while. Everything here belongs.
It sits just under three-quarters of an inch across and hangs on an 18" adjustable gold-tone chain, close to the chest the way forest things prefer. As with all pieces, this one is one of a kind. Once it's gone, it's gone.
