The Naturalist's Loupe Pendant

Something was found at the end of a tunnel, handed over quietly, like the mine already knew it belonged somewhere else.

This pendant began as a broken magnifying loupe — the lens long gone, the ornate gold-tone handle and beaded bezel still intact, still looking for something worth examining. I filled the dome with resin, layered in moss, two miniature mushrooms, a vintage script background, and a beetle illustration pressed behind it all like a field note from someone who got there first. At the base of it, a fragment of rock from the Phoenix Mine here in Colorado — pulled from the same earth that once gave up its gold. It sits heavy in the hand the way meaningful things do.

This is the largest piece I've made to date. Two inches of pendant, substantial weight, the kind of thing you feel when you wear it. From my studio, part of the Hidden Glen series — where the glen keeps its oldest secrets just below the surface. It pairs naturally with The Jeweled Beetle Pendant, for those who prefer their curiosities to travel in pairs. As with all pieces, this one is one of a kind. Once it's gone, it's gone.
