Everything in this pendant was placed by hand. The mirror mosaic background, each piece set individually so the light breaks apart differently depending on where you're standing. Two tiny mushrooms. A small shell. And rocks, actual rocks, pulled from the Phoenix Gold Mine here in Colorado, carried out of the earth and pressed into resin so they don't go anywhere.
At half an inch, it shouldn't hold this much. But it does. The mirror catches and scatters, the mushrooms anchor it to something living, and the mine rocks give it a weight that has nothing to do with grams. It hangs on an 18" adjustable silver-tone chain and sits close, the kind of piece you wear when you want to carry something real.
From my studio, part of the Hidden Glen series, where the small things are the whole point. As with all pieces, this one is one of a kind. Once it's gone, it's gone.
