There's something about a steam train rounding a mountain curve that makes time feel like it's moving slower - or maybe sideways. The Georgetown Loop Railroad has been threading through the pine-covered ridges of Clear Creek County since the 1880s, and standing trackside watching it pass still feels like catching a glimpse of something that shouldn't quite exist anymore. This postcard was made from my own photography taken there on a summer afternoon, smoke trailing behind the engine, the Rockies stacked up behind it like they always have been.
